It is not
me
you are looking for,
it is
you.
We dress
and undress
as mirrors,
conscripting images
to burn and cherish,
to reveal and reflect
the many sides
of a lighted front,
a sideways turn,
modeling love
in a series of fractures.
We tell ourselves
we are not enough,
and the Soul,
harboring every last gilded
shred of us, laughs its
warm, sagacious laugh,
knowing full well
how much of us
there is to be discovered,
beyond false claims
and the caking of ash.
