Autobiography

IMG_3730

To know myself,
a rogue aggregate
of loving atoms,
a happy shivering clusterfuck
of luminous baubles
banded together
to forge and assume
an alleged identity,
no papers or pulpit required,
to fulfill an arc, and heart-guided directives,
to be a kid, with a hymn-book,
and the keys to the kingdom,
for God knows how long,
then dispersion,
back to the warm bath
of light and sound,
and I
will no longer be I,
and though breaking up
is hard to do,
and this will be by far
the most challenging break-up
in my life,
I, me-less, will depart,
lightly, without going anywhere,
soul at play, lidless
in its capacity to contain grief
and love.

Rending the cosmos,
to midwife its own star-seed,

Not a simple feat,
to follow one’s own footsteps–
I, me, her, repeat.

In winter’s maw, snow,
flutters of feathery pecks–
kisses, melt to rash.

Gertrude Stein

one word, next, again, the same–

Veils

nudebrooks2
Succubus to self,
modeling Salome,
dance of the seven deadly
veils,
thinned,
to bare pleasure,
and visitation rites.

Bone Dry

Those crisp autumn nights,
alone, with miles and miles of

Red, Black

Mark Rothko (6)
To paint a blood-sport,
matador, faring no bull–
dark, in need of stars.

Remember, love, there’s
more of me where I came from–
Frames cannot hold us.

Arson

Committing arson,
five-alarm siren on screen–
Louise Brooks, how you burned.
