Rumors

20171003_185453
Within the licorice hush
and mottle of Dream’s
darkening brood,
we cede, slowly,
to faintest rumors
on a paling cusp,
to gainly renew.

Lucent

20170817_181746
The house, the chair,
the vintage attire,
the cloud-pastried sky
with no limits,
time and again
she projected herself into
someone else’s life,
their memories and reality,
and saw herself reflected
as if a happy mannequin
behind lucent glass.

Word

20170802_174445
Not burning,
not siege,
not flood,
not cold front,
not atomic scourge,
can destroy
the Word,
a lasting first,
and inviolable measure,
voiced to raise itself
eternally anew.

Baffle

20170802_173807
It had been a long climb up the steps,
and an even longer journey to get there.
And now this.
The man, who had been a boy when he started the trip,
paused, to catch his breath, to settle into his age,
and then wondered if the girl with the key in her mouth
hadn’t been a girl at all,
but rather a demon,
or even worse, no girl, no demon,
no dream, no anything, really,
except his own secret history
of baffled metaphors
and scant interpretations
as to why
another message always appeared,
always, to entice continuation.
The man, prone to habit, walked on,
just in case.

Wisp

20170802_133012
Stray leaf,
prey to numinous
strands of web,
Ephemera’s passage,
frozen, discreetly,
to divine
wisp from perish.

Canticle

20170730_175956
Thistles,
structuring a feral paragraph
in open space,
as the stray feather,
cruciform to fence,
parlays the canticle
of Muse,
unfettered.

Ssshh!

Solitary bench,
modeling its full silence–
lovers secrets, ssshh!

Bench

20170730_172025
You know the story, the bench,
the promise, the waiting,
the interminable stretch of waiting,
and the love that never returned,
as the girl became a woman
and then dead.
You know the legend,
how the woman
is still waiting,
traces of spectral pollen
clinging to the bench,
the fence, the cracks in the ground,
and the grass that grows out,
wild and unseemly.
